Delhi Tops India's Repeat-Visit List, With Mumbai And Chennai Close Behind
New Delhi has come out on top of Agoda's latest Repeat Visitor Ranking, named India's most revisited destination, with Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kochi filling out the rest of the country's top five. The data, drawn from bookings made in the first half of 2026, points to which Indian cities are best at bringing travellers back.
Why Delhi Leads India's List
Delhi's mix of history, culture, bazaars and food keeps travellers coming back. Sites such as the Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb, combined with the city's vast food scene, give visitors a reason to return trip after trip.
Chennai lands in second place, drawing repeat visitors with its Dravidian heritage, Marina Beach and standout South Indian food. Mumbai comes in third, driven by its Art Deco buildings, Bollywood ties and famous street food. Bengaluru sits at fourth, mixing its reputation as a tech hub with a strong dining and craft beer scene, live music spots and green spaces. Kochi rounds out the top five, where Fort Kochi's colonial-era charm, Kerala cuisine, contemporary art scene and easy backwater access keep people returning.
Tokyo Pushes Past Bangkok As Asia's Top Repeat Destination
Elsewhere in Asia, Tokyo has taken the number-one spot for the first time, edging out Bangkok, helped by its seasonal offerings, quieter neighbourhoods and varied food scene. Bangkok stays at second thanks to its wellness options, dining and cultural sites, while Bali jumps to third – its best result yet – on the strength of its beaches, spiritual getaways and scenery.
Seoul and Osaka fill out the top five, and Da Nang, Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei and Johor Bahru make up the rest of Asia's top 10. Fukuoka is a new entrant this year, landing at number eight and pointing to rising interest in spots beyond Japan's usual tourist draws, while Vietnam's Da Nang moved up two places to sixth, helped by its beaches, closeness to UNESCO-listed Hoi An and strong value.
What The Ranking Tells Us
The Repeat Visitor Ranking points to a broader shift toward places that reward multiple visits over single trips – cities and regions offering layered experiences across heritage, food, nightlife and nature. Agoda, which lists over 6 million properties, more than 130,000 flight routes and over 300,000 activities, says the numbers reflect real traveller loyalty rather than just first-time interest.
For India's travel industry, the strong showing from Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai suggests classic metro routes still hold their pull, even as more travellers branch out to newer destinations.
